Wendy Stock, MD of University of Chicago receives 2020 Mentor Award Recipient
The Anjuli Seth Nayak Professor of Leukemia at the University of Chicago School of Medicine is Dr. Stock, the clinical awardee. She is vice chair of the Alliance’s Leukemia and Leukemia Correlative Sciences Committee, a joint clinical trials organization funded by the National Institutes of Health’s (NCI) National Cancer Institute. She previously worked for 15 years as co-leader of the Hematopoiesis and Hematological Malignancies Program of the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center, and as co-chair of the Leukemia Steering Committee of the NCI National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN). Dr. Stock has been involved in many ASH-related trainee activities including serving as a faculty member on the Clinical Research Training Institute advisory committee, as a member of the Research Training Grant Fellowship study portion and as co-chair of the ASH Education Programme. At her institution, she is well known to early stage trainees as the “go-to” faculty member for advice on opportunities for fruitful and educational study. From basic science-oriented faculty to clinician-educators and physicians, her mentees hold varied professions, and some work entirely outside the field of hematology. In hematology, as well as in pharmacology and infectious diseases, she has facilitated professional development and helped her mentees develop professional relationships to excel in these fields.
