The ongoing TOURMALINE-MM1 study (NCT01564537), a Phase III placebo-controlled clinical trial for relapsed refractory multiple myeloma, has produced very positive response results, even in patients with high-risk cytogenetics a result, which, if validated, is unprecedented. Alberto Rocci, MD from Central Manchester University Hospital, Manchester, UK discusses these results and the toxicity profile of the novel oral triplet combination treatment used, which includes ixazomib.
