The results of a peer-reviewed report published in JCO Clinical Cancer Informatics (JCO-CCI), an American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Journal, were revealed today by Syapse®, a pioneering real-world evidence organization accelerating the delivery of precision medicine through the Syapse Learning Health NetworkTM.
The study, titled “Validation of a mortality composite score in the real-world setting: overcoming source-specific disparities and biases,” looked at the Syapse Learning Health Network platform’s ability to accurately assess oncology mortality rates, demonstrating that a composite mortality score could achieve a sensitivity of 94.9 percent and specificity of 92.8 percent, as c
In oncology studies, mortality is a significant data point. For accurate overall survival calculations, complete and accurate mortality data is needed. There isn’t a single complete source for mortality that can be used widely in the modern world. Furthermore, possible differences in patient inclusion based on sex, ethnicity, age, and socioeconomic status have not been thoroughly investigated. To create a high-quality cumulative mortality ranking, the Syapse Learning Health NetworkTM uses a mixture of six different real-world data sources. The composite mortality score was able to transcend these inequalities, retaining high sensitivity (84.6 percent – 96.1 percent ), accuracy (77.9 percent – 99.2 percent ), and concordance within one day (95.7 percent – 100.0 percent ) across subgroups of sex, color, age, and socioeconomic class, according to this report.
