The early detection of lung cancer is an exciting field with the potential to greatly improve patient survival. Currently, the topic of screening dominates the agenda in this area, and several countries have already begun to implement screening. Here, Neal Navani, PhD, of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, discusses whether the UK will follow suit. Dr Navani also highlights the need to consider smoking cessation programmes within screening.
