The National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway (NOLCP), a hugely accelerated new lung cancer care pathway in the UK, was a central topic at the British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) Annual Conference 2018, held in Dublin, Ireland. Speaking from the meeting, David Baldwin, MD, FRCP, of the University of Nottingham Medical School, Nottingham, UK, and Chair of the Clinical Expert Group (CEG) for Lung Cancer of NHS England, gives us an overview of the NOLCP. Prof. Baldwin discusses how the NOLCP was developed and its implementation, highlighting the exciting benefits that are already being seen and emphasizing the need for enthusiastic clinicians to drive this change forwards.
