The use of checkpoint inhibitors in multiple myeloma (MM) is an exciting area. The data from two KEYNOTE studies examining this are discussed here by Noopur Raje, MD, of Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, Boston, MA: KEYNOTE-185 (NCT02579863), investigating pembrolizumab in the frontline setting; and KEYNOTE-183 (NCT02576977), which looked at prembrolizumab plus pomalidamide and dexamethasone in the relapsed/refractory setting. Prof. Raje highlights the factors that must be taken into account when using checkpoint inhibitors in MM.
