The last 5-10 years has been a very exciting time for the treatment of myeloid malignancies, with great advances in targeted therapies. Amir Fathi, MD, of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses therapy targeting isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). Dr Fathi highlights studies which hare evaluating IDH inhibitors as a monotherapy or in combination with other types of treatment, for which the preliminary data is promising.
