Linda Bauld, PhD of the University of Stirling, UK discusses as session on the prevention of cancer at the population level at the 2016 National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Conference in Liverpool, UK. Prof. Bauld explains that they were looking at population level interventions to reduce the incidence of preventable cancer in the UK and other countries. She explains that the biggest impact can be achieved at the policy level rather than the individual level, i.e. changing the environment and the opportunities. The main preventable risk factors are tobacco use, obesity (weight, diet and physical activity), and alcohol. In this context, she then discusses the four Ps (the price of products, the product itself, promotion and place).
