At the Thirteenth International Kidney Cancer Symposium, Dr JianJun Gao (University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, TX) provides an overview of renal medullary carcinoma (RMC).
RMC is a rare and aggressive renal cell carcinoma subtype that primarily occurs in African-American patients with sickle cell trait. Although research in RMC has remained in the preclinical stage, it is hoped that significant progress in more common kidney cancer subtypes will provide applicable data that will improve the management of patients with RMC.
