Mao, MD of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center discusses the definition of integrative oncology which they published a special issue at the Journal of the National Cancer Institute Monographs. They defined integrative oncology as to bring natural products, mind, body therapies and lifestyle modification that are based on evidenced safety and potential effects of these to patients. In addition, it is also to integrate alongside conventional cancer treatment to optimal health and to empower patients to be active participants in the cancer care institute.
