There is currently an array of exciting clinical trials for mesothelioma, investigating cutting-edge treatments in large patient groups. Here, Dean Fennell, PhD, FRCP, of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, Leicester, UK, discusses the key mesothelioma trials that the UK is running or taking part in. Prof. Fennell covers the Phase III CheckMate 743 trial (NCT02899299) of double immunotherapy (nivolumab and ipilimumab) in the frontline setting; the Phase II/III global ATOMIC trial (NCT02709512) of ADI-PEG 20 for patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM); and the international umbrella study of Mesothelioma Stratified Therapy (MiST) for MPM, which will be the first study to evaluate the activity and genetic basis of response to molecularly targeted approaches in parallel.
