Despite the constant research and drug development going on in the field of multiple myeloma (MM), a cure is still out of our reach. Speaking from the 1st European Myeloma Network (EMN) Meeting 2018, in Turin, Italy, Robert Kyle, MD, from the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, explains how although treatments such as stem cell transplantation and combination therapy are quite effective, they are unable to truly eradicate the disease. However, Prof. Kyle concludes his interview by referring to the small percentage of patients who do manage to outlive the disease and hopes that these patients may be the first to be referred to as cured.
