Bruce Johnson, MD, from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses the challenges associated with developing effective treatments for patients with solid tumors. Prof Johnson discusses the efforts that are being made in terms of defining subgroups of patients and relevant therapy approaches for common tumors such as breast cancer, lung cancer and colon cancer. He also talks about how for unusual tumors, the challenge is to identify therapy targets and recruit sufficient numbers of patients for trials.
